Product description
Rotating arm wire rope in 3 - 8mm thickness
Our silver galvanized, three-armed steel wire ropes comply with DIN European Standard 12385-4 and are assigned to rope class 18x7, i.e. 18 strands with 7 wires each. Due to the strand layers in opposite directions, the wire rope exerts a very low torque on an unguided load. The wire rope serves optimally as a crane rope for lifting and suspending suitable loads, especially at high lifting heights, and is used both indoors and outdoors.
High minimum breaking load: the minimum breaking load of the three-arm steel wire rope is as follows:
- 3mm: 591kg
- 4mm: 1.049kg
- 5mm: 1.636kg
- 6mm: 2.355kg
- 8mm: 4.194kg
Attention. When specifying the minimum breaking load, no safety factor is taken into account, please add at least a 4-fold safety factor to your suspension.
Tested quality: We use only high quality industrial steel for our wire ropes. With the help of several own calibrated universal tensile testing machines we are able to guarantee a complete quality assurance. For their application, a works certificate according to DIN EN 10204-2.2 or a meaningful test report can be issued.
Use as winch rope: The wire ropes are used, among others, as winch rope or hoisting rope for cranes. When using the hoist rope, it should be noted that the winch diameter is at least 20 times the rope diameter.
Various extension options: The product can of course be installed with suitable wire rope clamps or a rope lock, tensioned with wire rope tensioners and fastened with snap hooks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which side cutters can be used to cut this rope well?
It is best to cut the steel cable with a suitable Felco wire rope cutter. You cannot cut the steel cable with a conventional side cutter.
How can the tensile force of Newton/mm², from the technical details, be converted into the maximum weight that the wire rope can safely withstand?
To calculate the minimum breaking force, divide the minimum breaking force value from the table by the force of gravity (9.81). Example 5mm 18x7: 16,050:9.81=1,636.09kg.
Which clamps should I use for the 18x7 rope construction, or is the rope too smooth to "clamp"? How many clamps should be used?
Depending on the durability requirements, you should use press clamps or wire rope clamps in accordance with DIN EN 13411-5. If installed correctly, one press clamp per end connection is sufficient. The number of wire rope U-clamps depends on the strength, between 3x - 4x per end connection.
