Product description
Silver Wire Rope Clamps for 2-16mm Rope
Our silver galvanized wire rope clips comply with DIN European Standard 13411-5 from 5mm rope diameter and with DIN 741 from 2-4mm rope diameter and are used for detachable rope end connections with loops or thimbles.
Tested quality: Our wire rope clamps are made of unalloyed steel and can be used for 2mm - 16mm thick steel ropes. With the help of calibrated universal tensile testing machines, the following breaking forces of the wire rope clamps could be determined:
2mm: 212kg
3mm: 442kg
4mm: 785kg
5mm: 1.226kg
6mm: 1.767kg
8mm: 3.140kg
10mm: 4.907kg
12mm: 6.790kg
14mm: 9.241kg
16mm: 12.071kg
Attention. The breaking forces of the rope clamps are given without safety factor. Please add at least a 3-5-fold safety factor for your application. The detailed test reports can be found under "Test reports" on the article page.
Please note that wire rope clamps according to DIN EN 13411-5 & DIN 741 must not be used for loads above persons, conveyor systems in mining, in rope drives of cranes or for end connections of sling ropes.
Easy handling: Self-assembly of the clamps is possible with the help of a suitable wrench, two wire rope parts are pressed together by the wire rope clamp during tightening. In addition to the installation instructions in the Technical Details, please also note that the tightening torque of the wire rope clamps must be checked after one week, after one month and then regularly every 6 months.
Versatile applications: Wire rope clips are used to connect and hold detachable rope end connections and are suitable for forming eyelets and loops. Suitable applications for wire rope end connections with wire rope clips are the suspension of static loads as well as one-time lifting operations. Please note that installation should be carried out by competent personnel, taking into account the appropriate safety factors.
Important safety note: Custom-made rope end connections with a rope diameter of 5mm or more must comply with the specifications of DIN European Standard 13411-5.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which wire rope clamps do I need if I have a 2mm wire rope? Do I need 4mm or 2mm wire rope clamps if I make a loop and want to secure it?
The specified thickness of the wire rope clamps always refers to the direct wire rope thickness. So if rope clamps are needed for a 2mm wire rope, then you need clamps with a thickness of 2mm. The wire rope clamps are designed so that the wire rope can be guided through the bracket twice.
Which clamp size should I use for a coated wire rope (e.g. 6mm = 4 on 6)?
The size of the clamp must be adapted to the thickness of the wire rope including the plastic coating. For a 6mm wire rope (4 by 6) a 6mm clamp must be selected.
What size clamps do I need to close a 1mm wire rope sold by the meter or what alternatives are there for this thickness?
A 1mm thick wire rope can be clamped with wire rope clamps according to DIN 741 for sizes 2mm – 3mm or alternatively with 1mm aluminum press clamp DIN EN 13411-3.
What is the maximum load that a loop of 3 x 4 mm rope can carry when secured with these clamps?
No tests have been carried out on this yet. If the rope is stripped at the clamps, you can expect around 30% of the breaking strength of a 3mm rope. That would be around 160kg.
