Product description
PVC coated wire rope in 3-12mm thickness, thimble/thimble
Our galvanized and plastic-coated steel wire ropes are assigned to the rope classes 6x7 and 6x19, these are 6 strands with 7 or 19 wires each. The high number of individual wires provides both high flexibility and increased stability. From a thickness of 4mm, the ferrule is conically pressed to protect your objects from scratches caused by pulling back the wire rope. To protect the wire rope at the load bearing point, a thimble is swaged at both ends.
Durable finish: the high quality wire rope is surrounded by a 1-2mm thick transparent plastic sheath to protect against damage and dirt. The PVC sheath protects your items from abrasion and scratches.
Tested quality: With the help of calibrated universal tensile testing machines, the following breaking forces of the sheathed wire ropes with thimbles could be determined:
3mm (2 on 3): 239kg
4mm (3 on 4): 597kg
6mm (4 on 6): 958kg
8mm (6 to 8): 1,994kg
10mm (8 to 10): 3.926kg
12mm (10 to 12): 4.933kg
Attention. Breaking forces of steel ropes are given without safety factor. We recommend to consider at least a 5-fold safety factor for your application. The detailed test reports can be found under "Test reports" on the article page.
Important safety note: If sheathed steel wire ropes are subjected to long-term loads, they must be visually inspected on a regular basis. The reason for this is possible corrosion within the sheathing. In principle, we recommend using steel ropes without sheathing for safety-relevant suspensions.
Versatile theft protection: Steel ropes with eyelets and thimbles can be optimally used for suspensions in indoor areas, as well as anti-theft devices in outdoor areas for securing baby carriages, garden furniture, bicycles, motorcycles and helmets, as well as catering furniture. Countless goods and objects in the home and garden, as well as in sports and camping can be easily and quickly secured with this wire rope as an anti-theft device.
Easy extension options: Of course, our coated wire ropes can be combined with suitable wire rope accessories, such as locks, hooks or pulleys from the store of Drahtseile24. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Frequently Asked Questions
Hello, if I understand correctly, the information (6 on 8) means that the wire rope has a diameter of 6mm, and with the sheathing it is 8mm? What is the approximate breaking load of a wire rope with the thimbles?
Exactly right, the numbers in brackets describe the strength of the wire rope with and without sheathing. In this example, the wire rope without sheathing is 6mm thick and including the plastic sheathing it is 8mm. The minimum breaking strength of the 8mm sheathed wire rope is 1,993kg, which we have always achieved in several tensile tests.
If I wrap the rope around once, what radius should I keep to? For example, my shackle on the other side is 13mm thick. Is that too little?
To avoid excessive bending, the radius should be at least 20 times the rope diameter (wire rope without sheath).
I would like to order a special size, please. I would like to know if the rope thimbles are included in the total length?
The specified length (desired size) refers to the complete usable length from the load-bearing point of the thimble to the load-bearing point of the thimble. You can find a representation of the length of the wire rope under the technical details.
Can the 12mm (10 by 12) wire rope be cut with bolt cutters?
No! I tried with a very high quality bolt cutter and didn't succeed.
What can the wire rope covered with thimbles 10 by 12 withstand under tension? Is it resilient?
The minimum breaking force of 5,851 kg was successfully exceeded in several tensile tests. However, it is not possible to process completely coated steel cables in accordance with DIN standards. Coated steel cables are not suitable for use with loads that need to be lifted; steel cables without coating should be used as an alternative.
What is the diameter of the wire rope ferrule?
The diameters of the press clamps are the size of the rope diameter factor two, resulting in the following diameters: 3mm (2 to 3): 6mm diameter | 4mm (3 to 4): 8mm diameter | 6mm (4 to 6): 12mm diameter | 8mm (6 to 8): 16mm diameter | 10mm (8 to 10): 20mm diameter | 12mm (10 to 12): 24mm diameter
