Product description
Stainless steel rope in 2mm - 10mm thickness with screw terminals
Our salt water resistant stainless steel ropes A4(AISI 316) comply with the DIN European Standard 13414-1 and are assigned to the rope classes 1x19, 7x7 and 7x19, these are one or 7 strands with 7 or 19 wires each. Stainless steel ropes of 1x19 construction are considered "stiff" and less flexible due to the small number of individual wires. 7x7 and 7x19 constructions, on the other hand, offer high flexibility due to the large number of individual wires. The wire rope is crimped at both ends with stainless steel screw terminals with metric threads M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, M12, M16 and M20.
Tested quality: We only use high-quality industrial steel with the premium quality V4A AISI 316 for our stainless steel wire ropes, making the stainless steel wire rope resistant to both salt water and acids. With the help of several of our own calibrated universal tensile testing machines, we are able to guarantee seamless quality assurance. The following minimum breaking forces of the stainless steel cables with crimped terminals were determined in several test trials:
- 2mm / M4 threaded terminal with 7x7 steel cable: 336kg
- 2mm / M5 threaded terminal with 7x7 steel cable: 305kg
- 3mm / M6 threaded terminal with steel cable 7x19: 764kg

Attention! The breaking forces of the terminals are specified without a safety factor. Please base your application on at least a 5-fold safety factor (example 3mm / 7x19 / threaded terminal: 764kg (breaking load) : 5 (safety factor) = 152kg (payload)). The detailed test reports can be found under "Test reports" on the article page.
Individual length production: We manufacture your stainless steel wire ropes with threaded terminal to fit exactly for you. Simply select the desired length range of your required length and write your desired length in the comment field provided. The underlying dimensions, please refer to the technical details.
Versatile applications: The stainless steel ropes with thread can be used for suitable guy wires for sailboats, for facade greening or for stainless steel railings. Due to the corrosion resistance, stainless steel ropes are increasingly used in outdoor applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
Hello. Does the specified length (desired size) refer only to the steel cable or is the length including the two threaded terminals at the ends? Thanks in advance
The specified length (desired size) refers to the complete usable length from end of thread to end of thread. You can find a representation of the length of the wire rope under the technical details.
What thickness is recommended for a stair railing and should it be flexible or rigid?
For a stair railing we recommend a thickness of 4mm - 5mm. If the rope is not to be redirected but only stretched straight, we recommend using a stiff stainless steel rope.
Does the rope rotate when screwed in? Or can the thread be screwed into a fixed fine-thread dowel?
Both variants are possible, if you use a stainless steel cable with a thread terminal (both right-handed in this offer), the cable will rotate. If you want to screw the stainless steel cable with thread terminals into a thread, you need a left-handed and a right-handed thread (you can find this article here: https://www.drahtseile24.de/edelstahlseil-mit-gewindeterminals-mit-linksgewinde-rechtsgewinde)
How long is the respective M10 thread for a 6mm rope?
The thread length is 64mm, all information on the individual dimensions can be found under the technical details.
What length of wire rope with threaded tensioner do I need if the clear outside dimension of two posts is 6m?
Please enter the length from outer edge of post to outer edge of post + 2 centimeters.
What is the difference between a flexible and a stiff rope?
The stainless steel cables with the 1x19 construction are considered "stiff" and not very flexible due to the small number of individual wires. The 7x7 and 7x19 constructions, on the other hand, offer a high degree of flexibility due to the high number of individual wires. Stiff steel cables cannot be redirected, but can only be used as straight guy wires.
How big do I have to drill the holes to push a 6mm stainless steel cable with M10 thread through a steel pipe?
The hole must have a minimum diameter of 13mm.
What does the length range mean?
Please first select the appropriate thickness and length range and then enter your exact desired length in the field provided. Please refer to the technical details for the underlying dimensions. The length range is necessary to determine the price.
I would like to combine or use the thread terminal with a rope tensioner. Is there anything I need to take into account?
The metric thread of the terminal must be the same size as that of the turnbuckle. Furthermore, it must be a stainless steel turnbuckle. Turnbuckles with hooks and eyes have a left-hand thread, the terminals of the wire ropes are equipped with a right-hand thread as standard, but can be pressed with a left-hand thread on request.
What are the length manufacturing tolerances of the ropes? Which unit must be entered for the desired size? cm, mm?
The stainless steel cables can be manufactured to the exact centimeter. You can specify the length in cm or mm. If you have any questions, I will contact you again before production.
In principle, can total lengths of less than 0.3m be ordered?
Depending on the insertion depth and length of the terminals, lengths of less than 0.30m can also be produced. You are welcome to place an order for this. If it doesn't fit, I will contact you again.
How much summer/winter expansion should I expect for a 5mm stainless steel rope with a length of 7.78m?
For a 5mm stainless steel cable and a length of 7.78m, you can expect thermal expansion due to temperature differences between summer and winter. Stainless steel expands approximately 0.016mm per meter per degree Celsius. For a stainless steel cable of 7.78m length, this gives an approximate expansion of: +/- 1.25mm per 10 °C temperature difference. For a difference of eg 30 °C between summer and winter (eg from -10 °C to +20 °C), the cable could change in length by around 3.75mm. We recommend that you allow sufficient clearance and a tensioning system during installation to compensate for the thermal movement of the cable.
You provide a minimum breaking force on your website. Does this refer only to the ropes shown or to the rope-terminal connection?
The minimum breaking force refers to the rope-terminal connection, since in all test attempts the wire rope always broke.
What is the modulus of elasticity of the stainless steel ropes?
The modulus of elasticity for stainless steel ropes cannot be determined without error. The modulus of elasticity differs greatly for stainless steel ropes because the internal friction of the individual wires is very different. The breaking elongation of stainless steel ropes is approximately 1.5 - 1.8% elongation.
How can I, as a non-expert, tighten this rope on my stair banister (if I turn one side further in, the other side turns out).
There are two ways to do this: You can either push the threads completely through the last posts, lock them with the nut and stretch the wire rope over them. Alternatively, you can use a stainless steel rope with left and right threads (https://www.drahtseile24.de/edelstahlseil-mit-gewindeterminals-mit-linksgewinde-rechtsgewinde), where the second side does not unscrew after you have attached the first side.
Is it possible to attach such a threaded terminal to a concrete anchor with an internal thread (e.g. Fischer FH II 12/M8 l) on the ceiling?
Yes, this is possible with a concrete anchor with an internal thread.
Can the thread be shortened, e.g. with a hacksaw?
The threads can be shortened with a grinder, but we advise against shortening them with a hacksaw.
If I want to use the rope to brace an L-beam and the rope goes crookedly away from the drill hole, how would you connect the rope to the drill hole?
Please use angle shims (https://www.drahtseile24.de/winkel-ausgleichsscheiben-edelstahl) for your application in order to compensate for the angle.
