Stainless steel rope in 2mm - 8mm thickness with shroud tensioner and fork terminal
Our saltwater resistant stainless steel ropes A4(AISI 316) comply with DIN European Standard 13414-1 and are assigned to the rope classes 1x19, 7x7 and 7x19, these are one or 7 strands with 7 or 19 wires each. Stainless steel ropes with the 1x19 construction are considered "stiff" and less flexible due to the small number of individual wires. The 7x7 and 7x19 constructions, on the other hand, offer high flexibility due to the large number of individual wires. The wire rope is pressed on one end with a stainless steel shroud tensioner with fork, in order to be able to tension the stainless steel rope. At the other end, the rope is pressed with a fork terminal to be able to attach it to suitable anchor points.
When using the shroud tensioner, please make sure to lubricate the threads before tensioning, using a stainless steel assembly paste. The stainless steel assembly paste prevents seizing or cold welding of stainless steel threads.
Tested quality: We only use high-quality industrial steel for our wire ropes. With the help of several of our own calibrated universal tensile testing machines, we are able to guarantee seamless quality assurance. The following minimum breaking forces of the stainless steel wire ropes were determined in several test trials:
- 2mm shroud tensioner with steel cable 7x7: 336kg
- 3mm shroud tensioner with 7x19 steel cable: 662kg
- 4mm shroud tensioner with 7x19 steel cable: 1,274kg

- 8mm rigging screw with steel cable 7x19: 4.536kg

Attention! The breaking forces of the terminals are specified without a safety factor. Please use at least a 5-fold safety factor for your application (example 3mm / 7x19 / shroud tensioner: 662kg (breaking load) : 5 (safety factor) = 130kg (payload)). Versatile applications: Stainless steel terminal ropes can be used for suitable guy wires for sailboats, for facade greening or for stainless steel railings. Due to their corrosion resistance, stainless steel ropes are increasingly used outdoors.

I would like to order a stainless steel rope with a turnbuckle and fork terminal. It is to be mounted between two eyebolts. However, I am not sure how to determine the exact length I want.
The desired length is always the actual usable length from load-bearing point to load-bearing point with the tensioner 80% open. So you need the length from the inner edge of the eyebolt to the inner edge of the eyebolt.
What tensile load can the composite withstand?
In principle, the minimum breaking force can be based on the wire rope. The minimum breaking force refers to the rope-terminal connection, since in all test attempts the wire rope always broke.
How much can the length be influenced by the shroud turnbuckle?
Under the technical details you can see the dimensions of the shroud tensioners in the tightened and relaxed state. This results in the following tensioning distances: 2mm: 70mm | 3mm: 70mm | 4mm: 75mm | 5mm: 80mm | 6mm: 115mm | 8mm: 160mm
Can the turnbuckle be completely unscrewed? I want to put the rope through a hole before attaching the rope.
The fork end piece and the shroud tensioner sleeves can be completely unscrewed so that only the thread can be passed through the holes.
Steel cable flexible or stiff - what is the difference?
The stainless steel cables with the 1x19 construction are considered "stiff", very round and not very flexible due to the small number of individual wires. A stiff stainless steel cable is therefore ideal for railings and can therefore only be used for straight guying. The 7x7 and 7x19 constructions, on the other hand, offer a high degree of flexibility due to the high number of individual wires.

A pulling force of approx. 150kg can be achieved.
