Our hydraulic hand crimping pliers are optimal for crimping terminals and crimping clamps for some wire rope end connections on site. Each crimping tong comes in a convenient plastic case and is equipped with a set of crimping jaws suitable for its application. The crimping tongs are ideal for crimping aluminum or copper crimping sleeves and crimping terminals for thickness of 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm & 10mm, stainless steel crimping terminals can be crimped for thickness of 3mm, 4mm, 5mm & 6mm. In addition, wire rope terminals of thickness 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm & 6mm (please note breaking force) can be crimped.
When selecting the appropriate crimping jaws for the hydraulic crimping pliers, the following special regulations must be observed due to the thin-walled material of some items:

Tested quality: With the help of the hydraulic pressing sleeve tongs, rope end connections, with up to 3 times pressing of press terminals, wire rope terminals, as well as oil terminals for sheathed wire ropes for fitness equipment were carried out. Subsequently, by calibrated universal tensile testing machines, the following breaking forces (converted to kg) of the pressed wire ropes could be determined:
- 2mm with terminals: 326kg
- 3mm with terminals: 326kg
- 4mm with terminals: 907kg
- 5mm with terminals: 968kg
- 6mm with terminals: 448kg
- 3mm with aluminum clamps: 428kg
- 4mm with aluminum clamps: 937kg
- 5mm with aluminum clamps: 764kg
- 6mm with aluminum clamps: 1.070kg
- 8mm with aluminum clamps: 2.854kg

Frequently Asked Questions
I want to press aluminum press clamps of different thicknesses. Do I need press jaws for each cable thickness or are they for specific areas?
A different set of pressing jaws must be used for each rope thickness. The pressing jaws can be purchased at https://www.drahtseile24.de/pressbacken-fuer-hydraulische-presszange.
How often and at which point or points must a terminal (here: shroud tensioner terminal) be crimped with the stainless steel cable (4mm)?
The terminal should be crimped 3x – 5x, starting at the turnbuckle end.
Should the same pressing jaws be used for round press clamps as for oval press clamps?
Round and oval ferrules can be pressed with the same pressing jaws for ferrules.
If I ordered eye terminals for 3mm wire ropes, then I also order the crimping pliers in the 3mm terminals version, right?
Exactly right. The selection of the size always refers to the wire rope thickness to be crimped.
Are the pressing jaws dimensioned so that the press clamp can be pressed in one operation? Will a burr form on the press clamp?
The press clamps must be pressed several times. Information on the number of pressings can be found in the test reports. A burr does not form.
Is the crimping pliers only suitable for aluminum and copper wire ropes or can it also be used for stainless steel wire ropes?
Our hydraulic pressing pliers for press clamps & terminals can be used to press stainless steel terminals, stainless steel, copper and aluminum press clamps on all types of wire and steel cables.
Which pressing jaw size is included in the hydraulic pressing pliers set?
You can select the press jaw size yourself by selecting the size.
When do I use aluminum ferrules and when do I use copper ferrules to crimp wire ropes?
Aluminum ferrules should not be used for stainless steel ropes, as the combination of these materials can promote galvanic corrosion. For stainless steel ropes, copper ferrules or stainless steel ferrules are therefore more suitable.
