PA black coated steel rope for fitness equipment in 4-5mm thickness with eyelets and ball stopper
Our black coated steel rope for fitness equipment complies with DIN European Standard 12385-4 and is assigned to rope class 7x19, which is 7 strands with 19 wires each. High-quality manufactured with black PA 12 nylon sheath, the wire rope is specially designed for fitness equipment and pulleys. Due to the sturdy and close-fitting 1mm sheathing, the wire rope is protected inside and has increased durability. The steel cable can be used as a replacement cable on various lat pulls, cable pulls and power stations on the pull tower for professional and home use. The steel cable is pressed at both ends with a small eye terminal, in addition, the rope is equipped with a ball stopper, which serves as a stop buffer. If desired, this ball stopper can also be omitted.
Tested quality: with the help of calibrated universal tensile testing machines, the following breaking forces of the coated steel ropes for fitness equipment could be determined:
- 4mm (3 on 4): 591kg
- 5mm (4 on 5): 1.157kg
Attention. The breaking forces of the steel ropes are given without safety factor. The detailed test reports can be found under "Test reports" on the article page.
High safety standard: The indicated working loads of the steel ropes are given with a 4-fold safety factor to the minimum breaking force.
High-quality ball stopper With the help of calibrated universal tensile testing machines, a minimum breaking load of 1,223kg of the ball stopper could be determined: No safety factor is also taken into account when specifying the minimum breaking force. Due to the very high breaking load, the ball stopper can be used as a stopping element for large weights without hesitation and does not change its shape due to the application of force.
Versatile application possibilities: If your steel cable on a piece of fitness equipment is broken or outdated, simply measure the diameter and length of the steel cable and we will make a new wire cable to fit you within a short time.

For coated ropes for fitness equipment, is the specified thickness of the wire rope the thickness including the coating or the thickness of the pure wire rope?
The first number before the brackets is the thickness including the sheath. For a 5mm (4 by 5) thick wire rope, the wire rope is 4mm thick without the sheath and 5mm thick including the plastic sheath.
How exactly is the length of the rope measured?
The specified length (desired size) refers to the complete usable length from the load-bearing point of the eyelet to the load-bearing point of the eyelet. You will find a representation of the length of the wire rope under the technical details.
I would like to use the rope on a metal pulley. Will the sheath withstand the friction and any heat that may be generated?
Yes, the robust PA12 nylon sheath makes the wire rope ideal for use on pulleys. Please note that the diameter of the pulley should be at least 20x larger than the wire rope inside the sheath.
Can the eyelets really withstand a tensile force of 260kg/140kg? How exactly is the eyelet connected to the cable, is it really just pressed?
The wire ropes are stripped at the ends and then hydraulically pressed together with eyelet terminals. The actual breaking load is four times higher than the specified payload.
Your question: Are the ropes also available with ball stoppers that are 5 cm in diameter? Unfortunately, 4 cm is not enough for my lat pulldown...
We only have ball stoppers with a diameter of 4cm. Alternatively, I can offer you the option of sending us your ball stopper and we will press it in.
Do all your pulleys fit your ropes?
Yes, the 50mm or 55mm pulleys can be used for the 4mm (3 on 4) coated wire rope and the 75mm or 95mm pulleys can be used for the 5mm (4 on 5) coated wire rope.
